How I stop allowing fear to prevent me from doing things I want to do

Have you ever had that gut-wrenching feeling when it comes to doing something uncomfortable or totally and utterly fearful to you? We all have phobias, things that seem so scary that no matter what we're offered we refuse to put ourselves in a position to deal with them. My fear of heights for example is very extreme, quite frankly you couldn't pay me a million dollars to even think about jumping out of a plane. According to dictionary.com fear is an unpleasant emotion caused by the belief that someone or something is dangerous and likely to cause pain or a threat. Fear triggers the fight or flight response in your body signaling that you are in danger and that particular stimulus should be avoided at all costs. It is the mind's way of alerting the body to danger and triggering that response to initiate protection mode.
